Taking Hold Of God

Isaiah 64 laments that God’s people failed to “rouse themselves to take hold of Him.” Prayerlessness is not ultimately solved by techniques, but by the gospel—remembering that we can take hold of God only because He first took hold of us in Christ. Grounded in God’s steadfast love and sure promises, prayer becomes not a way to use God for our desires, but a joyful posture of knowing, trusting, and delighting in Him.
